Do you read labels before purchasing products? - Angora Fur Exposé

Hi guys!

I have to start by apologising for being M.I.A. I cannot believe that I haven't blogged in over a month! Where has the time gone??! I have been sooo busy with school work etc the time has just flown by. But, I have been working on some posts and I will get them up shortly. Anyways, enough about me this post is going to be a very informative and quite a serious post. I just thought that I would get this info out to anyone that didn't already know.

You may or may not have heard about the recent news and exposé about Angora fur and the treatment of angora rabbits. Earlier this week a video (viewer discretion is advised) surfaced on the internet of undercover footage shot by PETA in China, showing the horrific routine cruelty to angora rabbits whose long soft fur is often used in sweaters and accessories.

My Mac Makeover Experience

Hey everyone! I recently had a MAC makeover done for my prom. I spoke briefly about this in my previous post but I thought I would go into it in more detail in case anyone was thinking of getting one done.

When organising my make up for prom it was all very last minute. I was thinking of getting my make up done for a while but I hadn't actually booked anything. I first thought about getting a MAC make over but then I thought against the idea because I didn't know if I would like it or not because sometimes their make up is a little OTT. I then thought about booking a make up artist that comes to my house and does my make up but then I thought that it really wasn't worth the money and I ended up going back to my first option (going to MAC).

I am a big fan of MAC products. Whenever I enter their stores I end up coming out with an empty purse and with lots of products.

At first I was a little bit sceptical about getting a MAC makeover as I have read bad reviews in the past. Not only that, but on many occasions I have found some of the 'MAC girls' not that welcoming and a bit rude. I am not saying that all 'MAC girls' are rude and unwelcoming as many I have seen are welcoming and extremely nice.

I was worried that I wouldn't like the make up and I wouldn't have time to get it changed before prom. Therefore I went to a MAC store before hand and asked if they could do a quick trial of what the make up would look like and then I could book an appointment. At first I asked one of the MAC girls politely if they did make up trials and she rudely replied (with a sarcastic tone) 'We don't do trials!' I was really shocked. I left the store and waited for my mum to come (as she was meeting me there after work). Somehow we managed to get an appointment in this busy MAC store and another kind lady did my make up.

Here are some pictures of what it looked like:
The products used were:
· Painterly Paint Pot · Gleam Shadow · Sketch Shadow · Blacktrack Liner

I was actually pleasantly surprised and liked the make up. After that I was sold and booked my appointment (at a less busy store in Carnaby Street, Soho).

On the day that I was to have my make up done I arrived on time at the store. I have to say that this was the best MAC store I have ever been to. It was small but not very crowded and the staff were so polite. The lady that did my make up was called Ashton and she was sooo nice and friendly. She sat me down and got her station set up and then she asked me what look I was going for. I explained to her I had prom etc etc and I also showed her some pictures of looks that I liked (mostly smoky eyes) and she knew exactly what I wanted and she started collecting some products up.

I was so pleased with the outcome, especially my eyes. She chose mainly blacks and silvers. I did not ask for fake lashes as I already came with cluster lashes on my eyes (I will do a future blog post on these).
At MAC you always get your money back in products if you have a makeover. So as my makeover was £30 I got £30 worth of products. I decided to purchase some of the products that she used on my face. I decided against getting the foundation and concealer as I already own both so I decided to get an eye shadow that she used (Knight Divine), a make up brush (217) and fix +. I went a bit over the £30 but I just paid the extra.

At the end of the makeover she went through all of the products that she used and wrote them all down on a face chart.

The products used were:
Brushes224, 217, 130, 168
Skin - Natural Radiance Moisturiser
Face - Studio Fix Fluid NC25 Foundation, NW20/NW25 Pro Long Wear Concealers, Fix +
Eyes - Stud Eyebrow Pencil, Vanilla Pigment, Idol Eyes, Enlightening, Silver Glitter, Knight Divine, Black Black
Cheeks - Medium Dark, Golden
Lips - Viva Glam V

Overall my experience was great! I would definitely recommend getting a MAC makeover done if you are going somewhere special as it is quite good value for money and you get your money back in products which is a bonus! My make up lasted the whole night which was surprising as it was very hot that day. To be honest I'd even get another makeover done even if I was just going to buy some products. I would also recommend the Carnaby Street MAC store as opposed to some of the other busy stores in London, for example the Westfield Stratford one.

I am sorry that I didn't get many pictures of my make up but these are all that I took on the day.

Will you be having a mac makeover any time soon? Have you had one before? What was your experience like?

Review: Britney Spears - Island Fantasy

I have always been a big fan of Britney Spears' fragrances. My personal favourites are Midnight Fantasy and Fantasy.

I personally like sweet fragrances so when I heard about Britney's latest fragrance I had to go and see what it smelt like.
